The January 6 Committee and Fauci are above the law

Regardless of what the ultimate truth is, many Americans believe that Anthony Fauci has publicly lied on the largest imaginable scale to justify controversial government rules on public health. Millions believe thousands have died unnecessarily as a result of his deceptions. Large swaths of Americans think political motives underlay his actions designed to benefit one president and stop another. We will never know the full truth of these accusations because Biden preempted the pursuit of truth with a blanket pardon.

Regardless of what the ultimate truth is, Trump won election while claiming that the January 6 committee destroyed evidence that vindicated him. Many believe this claim because the "swamp" began seeking Trump's destruction in 2016, often taking aggressive investigatory measures unjustified by evidence designed to destroy him personally and politically. Russiagate amounted to a legal insurrection driven by a politically motivated FBI, party and media, not the evidence.

The intelligence community and the FBI openly cooperated with the dominant press and big tech to suppress any investigation of Biden. These extraordinary acts of anti-democratic corruption represented the primary complaint of Trump in his speech on January 6th, 2021. Trump called for peaceful protest, although he was justifiably enraged by the political "witch-hunts" that had resulted in his election defeat, at least in part. Trump did make mistakes that day, but it all followed an unprecedented governmental and media effort to destroy a political candidate.

The 2024 election was fought out in part over these allegations. A democratic nation should deal with the substance of these claims and not sweep them under the rug. Biden's pardon of the January 6 committee is a deeply anti-democratic act that will have long-lasting consequences.

Trump will not, nor should he, drop his claims regarding the committee. While the members of the committee may have escaped legal prosecution, they must not escape fair and measured public scrutiny. Investigations should follow the evidence to where it leads. America must find the ultimate truth; justice and democracy demand it.
