Trump approval up 4, on issues he's just under water | Newsweek writes up this poll like it's a big negative for Trump, surprise right? Of course not. In reality Trump is up from last month on approval and some of the issues. This poll shows a divided nation, where Trump is never very far under water or very far above it. A move of two tor three points may put him under or over, so that he is under right now doesn't mean much. The country is divided and Trump is making big moves, so it's not surprising he's down a bit. If I'm in the White House I would be happy that I still have about 46-47% support when we are making such big moves. It means come election time for the midterms they will be in the ball game. Trump has also had to deal with a stubborn Fed on interest rates. When they finally cut the rate, as all signs indicate, Trump could see a substantial bump.
Newsom gaining, but Kamala dominates the 2028 primary field
'Democratic Socialists' are winning primaries and losing general elections | MAGA couldn't be happier. Not only are Dem-socialists losing general elections, but they are taking away from those losses that they need to go harder left. The Democrats are likely going to go through a long period of losing the biggest elections until they realize they have simply moved too far to the left. They could pull out a win in the midterms in the House, but that means very little. It's a virtually automatic win for the out party that holds no branch of government. It may be better for Dems if they lose the House. Another impeachment will just refuel MAGA for 2028 and a loss might force them to get the message more quickly.
Is 'Democratic MAGA' the answer for Dems?

Zelensky: No permanent deals, only ceasefire right now (which won't happen) | Simply put, Russia is winning this war if measured in territory and national will to fight. The Ukrainian people are ready to end it while Russia is seemingly leaning into the fight. Zelensky has no interest in finalizing a deal because he has less held territory and a demoralized nation, which equals a bad bargaining position. It's no more complicated than that.

Dem claims illegal running from ICE who was hit and killed by car, feared for his 'safety' | Being deported, not his safety, was the reason this man was running from ICE. ICE does not pose a safety threat to an illegal if he or she is cooperative. The take of this California Dem is typical of one who reflexively defends lawlessness. This man was tragically killed because of California's lawless permissiveness on the question of immigration.

. . . even WaPo's Eric Wemple said to media on Wolff's claims, 'proceed with extreme caution!' . . .
. . . even CNN's Oliver Darcy warned to treat Michael Wolff's claims 'with some caution' | TNR is treating a known sensationalist, and many believe liar, Michael Wolff's characterization of an Epstein statement on tapes he has not released like a news interview. Then they don't even cite the interview because they know if they identified the interviewer nobody would believe it. This is knowing disregard for the truth by TNR and is transparently misleading. Admitting defeat, Texas Dems to return for second special session | In the end they stopped nothing, only delayed redistricting by thirty days. They claim a moral victory in raising awareness of the TX redistricting plan, but the story was national news before they left. They did, however, bring attention to Illinois's hypocrisy on redistricting by going to the state.
Dems regain advantage in party affiliation | This is the result of pushing Independents to choose one or the other, or the leaners. It's likely not a durable shift, therefore, but a reflection of the party that is in power. As objectionable as people find Democrats, they have far less power than the GOP right now. The party in power ALWAYS takes a hit in the first two years of a newly elected president simply because their ideas are being implemented. This is Trump's second term, but in terms of the midterms it's like a new president because of the intervening Biden presidency.
Jordan to Wray: You hid whistleblower on Schiff from Congress
DC crackdown likely a 30-day experiment | Dems are determined to stop it, but if life in DC dramatically improves it may become politically untenable for the Dems to oppose federal control of the district. DC will likely get control back in thirty days, but if they can't maintain the progress it will all reset and we'll do it over again with pressure on Dems in Congress to approve it.

AP lie: Americans see much more income, including middle class, but poor lose income | AP is interpreting a CBO finding here. The CBO is also very often guilty of distorting economic reality. To write this headline, the AP has to reason that eliminating fraud and requiring work for SNAP and Medicaid is the same as eliminating income to the poor. Money fraudulently acquired or not earned by work is not the same as privately earned income, but they equate gov't benefits to private income. Also, the poor do not benefit as much from tax cuts because they have little to no income. The AP's basic assumption, that fraudulently acquired handouts and losing money for refusing to work are the same as losing private earned income is a lie. As Trump would see it, he wants to provide more jobs for those willing to work that produce more private income, and then the tax cuts benefit those people. Those willing to work will also NOT lose SNAP or Medicaid. Taking benefits from able-bodied childless adults who refuse to work is doing them a favor. Get to work and you'll have a much better life, that's obvious and that's the message. AP is not looking out for the best interests of the poor.

Carville: Dems must add PR and DC as states, expand Court to 13 to 'save democracy' | The Democratic Party and dominant EU parties share the same definition of democracy. If the left doesn't win it's not democracy and must be resisted and stamped out (e.g. the AfD party in Germany). They hold such a hardened and unexamined socialist view of history and the world that they genuinely believe that if leftist socialists lose, the population's will is not being heard. Their commitment to socialism is comparable to a religious fundamentalist's in its fervency. While socialism is an economic theory, it touches on social, cultural and religious aspects of human existence. Woke people, for example, find their justification in socialism's understanding of what is healthy human sexuality. A true socialist must be an atheist. Anything else is self-delusion. If the people do not elect socialists who hold these beliefs, it's by definition not democracy and must be resisted and overthrown no matter what it takes. This is the psychosis we must defeat if freedom is to survive.

EU leaders rally around Zelensky, demand more 'pressure' on Putin
NY Times: Anything but surrender of all territory gained by Russia is capitulation | The left simply does not want peace in Ukraine. On both major questions, territory and NATO membership, Ukraine will lose. They view any deal where Russia holds some territory it gained in the war as defeat, which is totally unrealistic. This is the wrong focus. Peace is what matters. Regaining the territory Russia took is not worth the fight because Ukraine will lose, full stop. If you're not going to take back the land from Russia, stop fighting. Admit defeat and restore peace. Furthermore, the NATO dream is just that, a fantasy. The feckless EU nations want Ukraine to be a part of NATO but they are unwilling and unable to protect Ukraine. It would fall on the United States to protect Ukraine under a NATO umbrella. This arrangement sets up a guaranteed escalation of conflict between the US and Russia, which need not occur. Ukraine and Russia will maintain a particularly hostile view of one another for decades to come. Making Ukraine a part of NATO would graft that hostility onto the NATO-Russia relationship, setting up unnecessary global conflict. No US president would agree to this at this point. So on both major issues, territory and NATO membership, it's game, set, match. Move on EU and Ukraine and stop sending young Ukrainians to their horrific and grossly premature deaths. Wake up.
What the Russia-US summit deal might be | Possible deal includes ceasefire, lifting US sanctions for US access to Russian oil, no formal recognition of gained territory as Russian, but de facto only. Formal determination of borders would be deferred. Despite Zelensky's bluster, polling suggests Ukrainians are ready for a deal.

We know how completely untrustworthy the deep state is at every department and level of bureaucracy. If the DOJ is corrupt and politically motivated, why wouldn't the Bureau of Labor Statistics also be motivated to hurt Trump? The resistance is everywhere. Don't doubt it. Trump was right to fire McEntarfer if for no other reason than she wiped away 1.5M jobs that were never there while Kamala ran, and then she did the same thing after six months of Trump 2, perhaps to keep the Fed at bay on holding the federal funds rate steady. Trump won't flinch at hitting back at the deep state and the Politico pulling out these old officials to cite the credibility of the deep state is transparent and ineffective.

Rahm Emanuel to Dems: Stop demonizing young men, help them buy homes | Rahm Emanuel is a relatively reasonable voice from the past when compared to other Democrats. As he outlines, the problem for the Democratic party is right in front of them. They are dominated by a radical and woke left, offended at everything, and they only need to return to Clinton era economics focused moderation to regain the center of the electorate. Social media has caused this inversion, putting the radicals out there as the most visible Democrats and the moderates sputtering behind the scenes. The woke digital left is highly visible and extremely offensive to most Americans. The legacy media can't solve this problem because too few people read and watch it. For decades the Democrats harnessed the energy of the constantly outraged woke left and relied on the legacy media to paper over the ugly parts and hold it all together. They made a deal with the devil and now they're choking on it. Trump has seized this moderate middle with a message of economic hope centered around the American dream and MAGA economics. The left simply won't allow Emanuel to dislodge those people from the MAGA movement. Some say Epstein could do it, but Clinton stands to lose more than anyone, which hurts Emanuel. Trump can't run again and even WaPo pointed out that there's no evidence of Trump wrongdoing. Vance is largely untouched by the controversy. Don't believe that? Check back in two years. Bottom line, the left will choke out any hope of winning in 2028 with its hate of young men, focus on wokeness and the push for unrestrained illegal immigration. If Emanuel gets traction over the next year, then perhaps I will be wrong. Don't count on it. Oh, one more thing, Emanuel is Jewish. Good luck winning a Democratic primary. Same can be said for Josh Shapiro. Get ready for constant Klobuchar stories in the legacy media, but Dems won't nominate another woman after Trump just beat two of them. Klobuchar is already backing away from Israel. Wouldn't want her to have the same problem as Rahm and Josh now would we NYT?

Staggering US tariffs take effect as trade war escalates
The tariff doomsayers . . . ignore that the Fed will now cut rates | The fiscal policy obsessed on both sides amuse me. Many spend their entire careers arguing about a tax cut here or an entitlement policy tweak there and genuinely think they know how to make a difference. Sure fiscal policy can make a difference on the margins, but when tariffs harness the power of expansionary monetary policy, it will be gratifying watching their shock at the result. Especially with tax cuts extended, growth will show up in spades and tariffs will reap a king's ransom. Trump is finally about to get the alignment he has so long sought, low rates and low taxes in a free market economy with tariffs harnessing that incredible power for the peoples' benefit. Unrestrained free traders tend not to care much about the worker so they view tariffs as a burden.
Trump celebrates flood of dollars from tariffs
India willing to pay heavy tariff to protect Indian farmers, dairy, fisherman | They will pay this price and it will be devastating. They will not be able to replace the American buyer. Is China's propped up consumer going to replace the demand of the United States? China is artificially inflating its growth in hopes of winning a trade war with the United States. China can't replace the United States as a buyer of Indian goods, certainly not dollar for dollar.
Ignore YouGov | It's a transparently bad election poll asking all adults what voters will do. Don't get me wrong, I think Trump is more likely than not to lose the House and hold the Senate in the midterms, but not by this margin.
Guardian opinion: The answer to Trump is Mamdani socialism | They genuinely believe Mamdani and his ilk are the answer. The idea: embrace all the woke madness and unrestrained immigration and promote 'economic populism,' and you'll reclaim the working class. The working class not only wants a living wage, but they also want a nation that is not suicidal and has borders. Dems will continue to destroy themselves as long as they embrace wokeness and unrestrained borders. They somehow miss the fact that borders are a pillar of actual economic populism. They are blind to the societal suicide promoted by wokeness, that all lifestyles promote not having children or waiting until you're 35 and having only one fatherless child, who is also unlikely to ever have children because he or she is encouraged to question his or her own gender and hate the opposite sex.
