2020 MEDIA SURVEY: PODCASTS

24% of US households listen to podcasts weekly while over 90% of Americans listen to radio each week, so podcasts are not yet equal to radio in reach. Almost 40% of Americans have listened to podcasts in the last month.

One cannot accurately determine how many people download a podcast because a wide variety of sources exist, many of which defy tracking. The most accurate estimates are made by iTunes. I tracked those estimates here as well as Podcast Insights estimates.

Podcasts probably face the same problem as Twitter, filter bubbles. We listen to the podcasts we agree with. They probably just tend to reinforce preexisting beliefs for most listeners.
